PARIS — By the time attendees made it out of the subterranean depths of the Louvre Tuesday night following the Louis Vuitton Spring / Summer 2018 runway show, the sun had quite literally set. Skies were a bit hazy, but the vista of the Louvre Pyramid at dusk, free of the asphyxiating crowds of tourists normally of these parts was no less breathtaking. The finish line, we made it! Some finish it was courtesy of Nicolas Ghesquière who closed the curtain the season with his women’s collection for spring that made quick work centuries of history, deftly pairing brocaded jackets with luxury running shorts and LV sneakers. Time travelers will take this collection to heart noting how freely these looks moved. The lightness and agility of Ghesquière’s design, especially on the sneaker front, will no doubt translate into some of this season’s must-haves, and yet without any reliance whatsoever on the hyped Supreme logo recently glimpsed in the luxury house over on the men’s side. On the evening Selena Forrest, Daphné Simons, Oumie Jammeh, Erika Linder, and Julie Hoomans all featured in the lineup of what was the 33rd and final show of this season’s Next News coverage across New York, London, Milan, and Paris.
