From the crowd streaming off the subway to way backstage with Damian and his crew, this is what reggae fans are wearing right now.

Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley played a rare intimate set on Saturday night at Bowery Ballroom in New York City, and we were there to capture the vibes onstage, backstage, and outside. In GQ Style’s debut issue, we brought Bob Marley’s living legacy together for the family’s first photo shoot in more than a decade. At that shoot, Jr. Gong previewed a fourth album for us, saying it would include “more ballads, more singing…more what you might think of hearing from my brothers.” Now the new record, Stony Hill, is officially coming out in January. Below, take an inside look at the fans, friends, and on-stage energy that make the Damian Marley Experience so wildly captivating—and look out early next year for Jr. Gong’s first solo album since 2005’s Welcome to Jamrock.
